Upward Trend of Prices STRONG DEMAND FOR HOGGETS Dominion Special Service. Dannevirke, July 29. Prices for both sheep aud cattle showed an upward trend at the weekly Uaunevirke stock sale to-day. Hoggets iu particular showed a decided rise on the previous week’s prices. Williams aud Kettle offered a fair yarding of both cattle and sheep. The sheep entry consisted chiefly of hoggets, which met .with spirited competition. Prices were As follows :— On behalf of Mr. J. Galloway, Kiritaki: 70 good ewe hoggets 35/1, and 70 34/S; 93 good wether hoggets 23/5. On behalf of Mr. J. M. Roberts, Tiratu: 42 ewe hoggets 33/-, and 111 at 28/5. ' Other prices: Fat wethers, 28/-; fat ewes, 23/- to 28/6; wether hoggets, 11)/to 21/6; aged ewes, r.w. S.D. rains, 15/6; b.f. hoggets, 19/2; small ewe hoggets, 18/1. to 20/2. Fat jersey cows, £3 to £5/14/-; empty P.A. cows, £5/9/-: small P.A. weaner steers, £4/14/-; small P.A. weaner heifers, £2/9/-'; springing Jersey cows, £2/10/- to £3/15/-; Jersey cows in milk, £3/12/6 to £5/5/-; Jersey Ijeifeiw, r.w.b., £2/15/- to £6/5/-; store Jersey cows, .">O/- to £3/5/-; Jersey bulls, £3/2/6 to £3/19/-. The Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association offered a good yarding of all classes of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. A total clearance was effected at the following prices:— Four and six-tooth ewes, r.w. S.I). rams, 34/- to 35/6; four and five-year ewes, r.w. S.I). rams. 32/- to -33/b; ewe hoggets. 28/- to 35/-; wether hoggets, 18/- to 23/-; fat ewes, 24/- to_27/-. Three-rear P.A. steers, £.B/15/-; oneyear £4/10/- to £5/5/-. two-year £7 12/6; dairy cows. £3/10/- to £6; store cows, £2 to £3/5/-.
