K Referees For Springbok Matches The. executive of the New Zealand Rugby Uuiou, at a meeting at Wellington last night, confirmed the appointment of Dr. McK. Dickson, Christchurch, as referee of the match, between the Springboks and Maiutwatu at Palmerston North on August 4, and of Mr. D. E. Maeassey. Otago, as referee of the Spring' boks-Wellington match, at Wellington, on August 7. The Southland union advised that the match between Southland and Manawaiu, at Palmerston North, originally fixed for Saturday, August 14. would now be played on Monday, August 16. The secretary of the New Zealand University Rugby Football Council. Mr. C. M. Turner, advised that the council was now constituted as follows:— Messrs. D. O. Williams. (Massey Agricultural College). .1. McKenzie (Otago University), C. Blgzey (Canterbury College), J. D. Mackay (Victoria College), If. Maeken (Victoria College), and M. j ■White (Canterbury Agricultural College). The following reinstatements were granted: S. T. Johnson, J. Beehre (North Auckland), R. Bright. To Puketapu. Rima Tauno (Auckland). A. D. Maher (King Country), W. Jones (■Wellington), L. E. Forbes (Canterbury), G. Scott, R. J £l. Mcßride (West Coast). RANFURLY "SHIELD MATCH Mitchell to Lead Southland By Telegraph —Press Association. Invercargill, July 28 It was announced to-night that N. A. Mitehell’s leg injury had responded to treatment and it is definite that he will lead Southland against Otago in the Ilanfurly Shield match at Dunedin on Saturday. Mitchell stated that his leg had practically recovered from the strain of the pulled muscle and be would bo fit by Saturday.
