Annual Value of Exports The annual report of the Meat Board gives the value of the Dominion's sheep and cattle, industry, as measured by the export statistics (f.o.b. values) for the twelve months ended March 31, 1937, as follows: —

INCREASED DIVIDEND Queensland National Bank Net profit of the Queensland National Bank for the year ended June 30 was £74,820, compared with £71,148 for the previous year. The directors use the increase to put up the dividend to 4| per cent, (interim of 2 per cent.), which requires £73,375. The balance (£445) of the profit, added to £19,936 brought forward, gives £20.381 to be carried forward. The position generally is stronger. Holdings of cash have increased by £248,190, against an increase of £464,726 in deposits, and £209,678 in advances. Government securities are lower by £88,795. The additions-to deposits are, Used £46,503, current accounts £418,223. The amount written off for depreciation of bank premises and furniture was £2500. The report states that, with the exception of the south-eastern portion, Queensland has experienced a good average season over the last 12 months, and, as a result of this and the improvement in prices of exportable commodities, the bank has been able to satisfy a steady demand for accommodation to cope with expansion in both primary and secondary industry. In addition to providing for these requirements, the bank has, where circumstances warranted, assisted in wine measure to restock its pastoral customers. whose earning capacity has been seriously impaired. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of” July 27 : —At. yesterday's sale of li million lbs., common teas were firm at last week's quotations, while medium and line teas were firmer generally. One and a half million lbs. are catalogued for next week’s auction.
