CONVICTS ATTACK GUARDS

4 Targuocha Salt Mine Bucharest, July 27. Protesting against the quality of the food issued in the Targuocha salt mine, 300 convicts attacked their guards 2800 ft. underground with picks and shovels. * Twelve convicts were shot dead and four guards were seriously injured. The authorities cut off the water and light, and the convicts, maddened by thirst, commandeered the lifts and came to the surface, where they were taken in charge.
