Enlargement a Fallacy London, July 22. Enlargement of the heart in the case of athletes is a fallacy, according to investigations by three Australian medical research men, whose two-year study at Melbourne University of oarsmen shows that while there might be slight enlargement during exercise the normal heart becomes smaller after exercise than when resting. British specialists quoting the Australians’ observations in “The Lancet,” declare that they have never seen a strained heart and that muscular effort in cardiac injury is greatly exaggerated.
