OLD GIRLS MEET

St. Margaret's College, Christchurch A meeting to form a Wellington branch of the Old Girls’ Association of St Margaret’s College, Christchurch, was held at the Midland Hotel yesterday and took the form of a sherry party. There was a' large attendance, and toasts to the future of school and association were honoured. Miss Gwynneth Boulton was elected president of the newly-fonned branch, and Miss Joy Row secretary. Among those present were: Alesdames Fish, A. Prime, J. S. Hardie, M. R. Belby, J. T. M. Fisher; Misses G. Boulton, M. Smail, A. Buchanan, K. Larcombe, J. Row, P. and J. Shennan and J. Ballantyne, the last-named being a representative from Christchurch. Eastbourne Plunket Ball Always looked upon as one of the highlights of the social season at Eastbourne, and attended by many from Wellington, the Eastbourne Plunket ball will be held this year on July 31, and to judge from advance reports, should prove even more popular than its predecessors. This year the decorative scheme will be “a riot of rainbows” and should be one of the most colourful imaginable. The customary home-made supper, for which this dance is famous, will be served. An energetic committee is hard at work making all the preliminary arrangements. California-bound Mrs. W. H. Turnbull, Tinakori Road, will leave Wellington for Auckland tomorrow night to connect with the Mariposa for California.
