A PREYING BLONDE

“A Girl Must Live,” by Emery Bonett (London : Barker).

In this amusing novel, similar in style to “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” the blondes prefer the gentlemen without scruple and in keen competition. The heroine, Gloria, has some busy moments in her efforts to keep her feet on both stools at once, but she earns admiration for being a dauntless tactician. She is badly betrayed by a pseudo-count at one stage in the story, but she wins out eventually, though it is only her husband’s release from a debtors’ prison that saves her. It is not a respectable book.
