Wellington Sheepskin -.Prices • HIDES MARKET EASIER I There was a further rise in the price of sheepskins,' but hides were easier at the sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. Sheepskins: The market was again strong for all grades, competition being exceptionally keen for sound pelted parcels. Values as compared with late quotations were 4il. to Id. better, and for halfbreds up to lid. Halfbreds sold to 16? d., fine crossbreds to 16d„ and medium and coarse crossbreds 15|d. and 15id. respectively. Salted . skins, of which there was a small offering, shown a corresponding rise. Hides: Competition was fairly keen at a lower range of values, with the exception of light and medium weights. As compared with previous rates, heavies mere id. to Id. lower, lights and mediums l-Bd. advance, kip and yearling, plso heavy calf, declined Jd. »o Id., and at times lid., while heavy kips were slightly better. Light calf were eagerly eomtieted for at prices id. to 3-Bd. better. Weights of 6-81 b. and l-51b. sold to 154 d. Tallow: A small offering: values about par. The range of prices is as follows: — Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 14id. to 16d.; fine crossbred. 14d. to 16d.; medium crossbred, 13$d. to 154(1.: coarse crossbred. j'2sd. to laid.; half-wools, lllid. to 151(1.: quarter-wools. 9.? d. to 13d.; pelts, 7Jd. to lid.
