Washington, July 21. A caucus of Democratic Senators, by 38 votes to 37. chose Senator A. W. Barkley to succeed the late Senator J. T. Robinson as leader in the Senate, defeating Senator B. P. Harrison, and apparently giving supporters of President Roosevelt on the Supreme Court issue a slight advantage,' since Senator Barklev is said to represent the Administration’s objectives similarly to Senator Robinson.
