Final All Black Trial SOCCER, HOCKEY, GOLF The most important event on the outdoor sports programme in Wellington to-day will be the final trial Rugby match before the selection of the New Zealand team to meet the Springboks in the first Test match at Wellington on August 14. Play will start at Athletic Park at 2.45 p.m., and a curtain-raiser will be played between two secondary school fifteens. Hutt Valley High School and Rongotai College. All other games in the Wellington secondary schools Rugby football competition have been postponed. Association Football. The Wellington Football Association will proceed with its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the following first division matches will be played : — First A Division, 2.45 p.m.: Hospital v. Petone, Basin Reserve No. 1; Diamond v. Marist, Kelburn Park; Technical Ohl Boys v. Waterside, Wakefield Park No. 1. First B Division, 2.45 p.m.: Lower Hutt v. Koro Koro, Hutt Recreation; Miramar Rangers v. Onslow, Te Aro Park; Wadestown v. Nada, Anderson Park No. 2; Swifts v. Scottish Wanderers, Basin Reserve No. 2. Men’s Hockey. Chief interest in the men’s hockeymatches in Wellington to-day will Centre in the meeting of the championship leaders', Karori B and Hutt, who have shown such improved form of late that they are now second, equal with Huia. on the championship ladder. They will meet on No. 8 ground at Karori Park at 2.45. At Kilbirnie at 3 p.m. Training College will play Varsity. The senior B grade will enter its third

round, when the following matches will he plaved: St. Joseph’s v. Hutt Valley. Woburn No. 1, 3 p.m.; Upper Hutt v. Wenerei, Karori Park No. 1, 3 p.m.; Technical Old Girls v. Wesley, Karori Park No. 1, at 2 p.m. Keen interest is being taken in the second meeting between Karori and Petone Technical Old Girls, leaders in the junior competition, to be played at Woburn on No. 2 ground at 2 p.m. League Football. The Wellington Rugby League will begin its competitions for the Walmsley Shield for seniors and the Buckland Cup for reserve grade teams this afternoon.
