Pleading guilty at the Magistrate's Court to a charge of bigamy, Arthur Henry Ellis, aged 31, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Two charges of stealing radio sets (at Christchurch and Dunedin) were adjourned. The police statement showed that accused married a woman at the Auckland registry office last January, left her and w, nt through tr form of marriage with a woman at Dunedin in June, giving on the latter occasion the name Eric Fisher. FALSE DECLARATION By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 16. For making a false declaration under the Marriage Act, Arthur Middleton Leggett, aged 48, carpenter, was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment by Mr. Justice Northcroft to-day. The offence closely approximated bigamy, said his Honour, and it was committed with the intention of facilitating marriage.
