LODGE BIRTHDAYS

Hutt Valley Celebrations The O Kiwilti Rebekah Lodge No. 44 and Bellevue Lodge No. 126 celebrated their twelfth birthdays with a social and dance in the R.S.A. Hall, Lower Hutt, recently. About 260 members and friends attended. Visitors included members from Wairarapa, Otaki, Wellington, and Hutt Valley lodges. An apology was received from Bro. G. F. Rudkin, deputy grand master, who was unable to attend because of other lodge business. Sister Peggy De Laney contributed two tap daneesj and Misses Wilson and Bowie two songs, Miss Bryant being the accompanist. Bro. Batten sang two songs, for which Mrs. Batten was the accompanist. Bach performer was presented with a small gift. The monte carlo winners were Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Gearing, Bro. Stuart qjid partner, and Mr. Asquith and Sister N. Mitchell. The birthday cake was iced by Bro. Batten, and was donated and cut by Sister N. Mitchell, N.G., O Kiwi Hi. Lodge, and Bro. Burrell, N.G., Bellevue Lodge. Bro. R. H. De Laney, D.D.G.M., was master of ceremonies. PERSONAL Mrs. Walter Elliott, Lower Hutt, left yesterday for Auckland, where she will join Mr. Elliott. They intend making their future home in that city. Mrs. J. Mitchell, Lower Hutt, leaves on Monday in the Maetsuyckcr on a holiday tour, which will include Port Moresby, Java, Singapore, and Saigon, Via Sydney. Mrs. Mitchell will be away for two months. Mrs. W. Burgess, formerly of, Lower Hutt, has returned to New Zealand after an cight-months’ trip to England and Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess’are now living in Wellingtojj. EASTBOURNE R.S.A. An enjoyable social evening was held by the Eastbourne branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association in the Anglican Church Hall on Wednesday night. The Utopians produced a one-act play, and songs were contributed by Mrs. L. Foley and Messrs. W. Sharpe, Ardrey, and McPherson. Elocutionary items were given by Mr. J. Bennett and Miss Carte. Tlie evening concluded with a dainty supper provided by the women’s committee.

Mr. W. Wilson acted as master of ceremonies, and thanked those who had assisted in making the social & success.
