YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wellington.— Cool for the most part ami overcast conditions prevailed with a moderate south-easterly breeze. The minimum temperature on Sunday night was 43.5 degrees. The maximum yesterday was 49.8 degrees, and at 3 p.m. was 45.7 degrees. Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended 11 p.m.: I.Bin. Total for the month, 3.351 n.; for the year, 13.13 in. Palmerston North. — After torrential rain overnight, the weather improved, although it was still overcast and uncertain. Mastorton. — Overcast with occasional rain showers. Colder temperature. Waipukiirau.— Cold and dull day with frequent heavy showers. Napier and Hastings.— Cloudy and overcast in the morning, with mild temperatures and a moderate southwesterly breeze, which changed to the south during the afternoon, temperatures falling rapidly. Auckland.— Fine and clear, with a light south-westerly wind and warm temperatures. Barometer steady at 29.95 inches. Christchurch.— Overcast and threatening, with a very light south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 46.5 degrees, and the barometer registered 29.98 inches at 5 p.m. Dunedin.— The morning was cold, but the sun shone throughout the day, and the temperature rose to a maximum of 111) degrees. The barometer was steady in the morning, and rose to 30.05 inches in the afternoon.
