The Hutt River Flood.— When the sudden fresh in the Hutt. River reached Whakatiki on Sunday afternoon, the volume of water was more than the normal river-bed could carry, and the excess found passage through the old bed, which passes over ground now occupied by the new links of the Waiwetu Golf Club. These pictures, taken yesterday, show the damage wrought by the brief Hood. Top: A portion of the river-bank near the northern end of the links eaten away by the force of the water. Below and to the left: Piles of debris left by the waters when they subsided.
