AGREEMENT REACHED
Cardboard Box Makers’ Dispute Full agreement on the major points was reached at yesterday’s dispute in Conciliation Council between the Wellington Female Printers’ Assistants Industrial Union of Workers and the Wellington Master Printers’ Industrial Union of Employers, being members of the North Island Cardboard Box, Carton and Paper Bag Makers’. Industrial Union ot Employers. A forty-hour week was agreed on. except for those workers engaged in P rlI1 ( t" in" offices, where the award is'for a 42hour week. The working week is to be of five days, between the hours ot I.JU a.m. and 5.15 p.m. . Wages for workers engaged in some of the more skilled sections of the trade range from 20/- for the first six months to 48/- in the fifth year, thereafter 58/-. Other workers are to receive rates from 17/6 in the first six months to 4a/- in the fifth year, and thereafter. Overtime was fixed at time and a half for the first three hours. Nine holidays a year were agreed on, -with one week’s annual holiday on lull pay. The award, which applies to businesses within a radius of 25 miles ot the Central Post Office, Wellington m to come into operation on May 2t> 19o(, flnll (° expire on a date to be fixed by the Arbitration Court to corresnond with the date of expiry of the Auckland cardboard box makers’ award. _ The conciliation commissioner, Mt.
