HASTINGS AND THE CORONATION
The Coronation of the reigning King = and Queen of England and the coin- = cidonee of this glad occasion with the 3 fiftieth anniversary of the borough of = Hastings, will give our festivities an 3 added gaiety and lustre, for none can = regard the achievements of the town j without a justifiable pride. Add to 3 these the fact that coronation week 3 is also the week set aside for the popu- ”* lace to show their fixed loyalty to the Empire by the very practical method of insisting on every possible purchase being of British origin. The success of the celebrations will remain, as it must do, with the people themselves. The organisers have done their part well and efficiently. An = elaborate and intriguing scheme of 3 town decoration has been effected. 3 The mayor, councillors, and public = bodies have all contributed an unstint- = cd share of energy in the fletermina- 3 tion that it will be an occasion which 3 Hastings will always remember. The 3 retailers have co-operated loyally, in = all c.ases at considerable personal ex- 3 pense. 3
