Work Begins on Engine for Submarine

London, May 6. Sir Hubert Wilkins, who is prepar-

ing for a further polar submarine project, arrived at Southampton from New York. He said that work had begun at Bedford on the engine and electrical fittings ot the submarine, and that a contract for Hie hull would be placed shortly. Sir Hubert has

five objectives, the principal of which is to locate the supposedly mythical Croker Land that Peary saw south of the North Pole and north-east of Ellesmere Land. He explained recently that from Spitsbergen the crew of seven besides his wife would travel several thousand miles beneath the Arctic floes. He was planning to stop for a short timg under the ice at the North Pole before coming up somewhere along the Alaskan coast.
