Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended 11 p.m.: nil. Total for the mouth, 2.36 in.; for the year, 12.14 in. Palmerston North.—Fine and sunny after frost overnight. A keen air, but practically no wind. Masterton. —Fine, with clear blue sky. Light westerly wind. Wanganui.—Fine and sunny, with practically no wind. Waipukurau.—Five degrees of frost was succeeded by a bright sunny day. Napier and Hastings.—A bitterly cold morning, overcast and frosty, clearing toward midday and becoming fine and bright, wifli a cold southerly breeze. Auckland. —Perfect weather, with clear skies, bright sunshine and a light south-westerly wind. Temperatures were cool and the barometer steady at SO.OOin. Christchurch. —The sun shone brilliantly throughout the day, with a very light easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was oS.Sdeg. The barometer was steady at 29.96 in. Dunedin. —Calm and mild, with short periods of sunshine aud considerable cloud. The maximum temperature was 61deg., and the barometer fell slightly in the evening, when the reading was 29.85 in.
