Casey, assistant general manager of the Railways Department, was a passenger for the south by last night’s steamer express. Mr. Stronach Paterson, managing director of A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., returned to Wellington from the south yesterday. Mr. G. J. S. Stitt arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday, and left last night for the north by the Limited express. Mr. E. L. Rutledge, general manager of the Fox Film Corporation in New Zealand, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr. Geoffrey L. Eastgate, who is now resident in Hong-Kong, has been notified by the University of New Zealand that he has passed his final examinations for the degree of bachelor of commerce. Mr. L. B. Hutton, 8.E., M.1.E.E.. Invercargill, who has been appointed assistant general manager and engineer of the Wellington City Corporation tramway and electricity department, is to take up his new duties on May 17. Mr. J. I. Craig, financial secretary to the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, is due to arrive at Auckland by the Wanganella on July 20 and will leave New Zealand again from Wellington by the Wanganella on August 5. During his stay in New Zealand Mr. Craig will deliver several addresses on the scenic wonders of Egypt and on other phases of Egyptian life. • The Rev. A. T. Thompson, M.A., 8.D., after an absence of more than 12 years in Australia as Commonwealth secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, has returned to settle in New Zealand. Mr. Thompson was formerly secretary of the Bible Society in New Zealand and a well-known minister of the Presbyterian Church, first at Thames, then at Masterton, and finally at St. Andrew’s, Christchurch, where he founded St. Andrew’s Boys’ College. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and family will make their home at Masterton.
