FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Fair to fine; rain developing later. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: An anti-cyclone covers the Dominion, its centre being located to the north-west, but a fresh depression is now advancing across the south lasman Sea and barometers have commenced to fall in the far south. Light, to moderate south-westerly winds over the northern half of the North Island; elsewhere north-westerly to northerly prevailing and gradually freshening about and south of Cook Strait. A considerable but decreasing southerly swell between Banks Peninsula and East Cape; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight to moderate seas, but nsin„ later about Cook and Foveaux Straits. , Light south-west winds at. first in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman Sea, otherwise north-westerlies to northerlies prevailing and freshening m the southern portion ; seas slight to moderate, but rising m the southern portion. Weather fair to fine generally at first, but cloud increasing in western districts from Taranaki southward; rain developing shortly m Westland and the lai south and Inter extending to most districts with a westerly aspect. Temperatures mild.
