The Hindenburg Disaster.— When mooring at Lakehurst, New Jersey, U.S.A., on Thursday, on completion of her first trans-Atlantic flight of the present season, the German airship Hindenburg exploded, with heavy loss of life. The picture above shows the giant airship being moored to the mast at Lakehurst on a previous occasion. Below is a diagrammatic sketch, reproduced by the courtesy of “Flight,” which shows the structure of the airship, the passenger accommodation being shown at its lower right in detail.
