Tuppenny Finds The Reason

JfULLO, Everybody,— Have you noticed a specially joyous, light-hearted feeling in the air lately? I have, and so has Tuppenny, but we weren’t quite sure at first just why it should be there. Boy Blue zvas quite positive it zvas because he. had all his sums right, but Tuppenny (who had only two) told him quite firmly that that wasn’t the reason at all. “Nobody,” she said, rather pointedly, “nobody would feel specially happy because you had got your old sums right. Why, they' wouldn’t even knozv.” Poor Boy Blue felt squashed, but not'for long. “Well,” he bobbed up again, “if you knozv so much about it all, zvhy don’t you say it?” Tuppenny looked taken aback, and her small brother’s eyes danced triumphantly. “Ha! Ha!” he shouted, making for the door. “You don’t knozv, after all! Most likely it was my sums! Most li But the door banged after him before Tuppenny could quite reach the teaser, and we heard him laughing triumphantly from the safety of the old macrocarpa, a favourite retreat of his. Tuppenny and I settled dozvn to try and find out just zvhy this strange, nezv spirit of gaiety and- fun seemed to be dancing round everywhere. Then Tuppenny had an idea. “I knozv, she cried. '“Let’s go for a zvalk! Maybe, we’ll find out by zvatching people and things.” So off zve went. In an hour we zvere back again, and zve had brought with us the answer to the riddle. Boy Blue met us at the gate, and Tuppenny, zvith an air of great mystery, unfolded the secret. “The Coronation!” she said. “I didn’t know that a thing like that, azvay over in England, would make such a great big difference here. But 'it does, and everybody’s hcfppy and gay —even the streets and the buildings!” Your thoughts zvill turn naturally this next zveck to the great event taking place in England, for it will be the first Coronation

to take place in your lifetime. That makes it a big thrill for you —almost as big, perhaps, as for the little princesses! Love to you all,
