London Wool Sales Close HOME TRADE ACTIVE Bv I'clegraph.—Press Assn. -Copyright London, May 6. At the final wool sales of the series. 7643 bales were offered, including 3291 from New Zealand, and 5189 were sold. A moderate selection met keen competition from the Home trade. Sellers’ limits were above buyers’ ideas, and withdrawals were frequent all round. Throughout the series 67.300 bales were offered and 55,500 sold. The Home trade bought 29,500 bales and the Continent 26,000. The tendency throughout, after being firm, was quieter, but competition was keen. Compared with the closing prices of the last series, prices were from par to 74 per cent, dearer. The following cabled reports were received yesterday by Wellington houses: Bank of New Zealand produce department :—The sales have closed firm for all kinds of wool. Current quotations for wools or average condition: —

Bank of New South Wales: —London wool sales closed to-day with good and general competition. Compared with opening, good style merinos are firm; other kinds slightly in buyers' favour: crossbreds firm. Dalgety and Co,. Ltd.:—Wool sales closed active, with competition general. Murray, Roberts and Co., Ltd.: — Sales have closed with a good tone, competition general, market irregular. Compared with last London sale's closing rates: Greasy merino, best descriptions, advanced 5 ner cent.; greasy merino, other descriptions, market shows no change; scoured merino, best, market shows no change; scoured merino, other descrintions, market declined 5 iter cent.; crossbred greasy, fine, medium and coarse, advanced u per cent.; crossbred scoured, market shows no change: slipe crossbred, par to 5 per cent, decline. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Aaencv Co., Ltd. The sales closed with fairly firm tone to-day. Home buyers were the principal operators. As compared with last sale’s closing rates, prices are higher, par to Id. per lb. for medium and inferior greasy merino and merino lambs; prices are higher Id. to Id. per lb. for crossbred lambs, greasy merino super, fine greasy crossbred and coarse crossbred slipe, and Id. per lb. higher for medium and coarse greasy crossbred; prices are lower Id. ;>er lb. for inferior scoured merino, and Id. to Id. per lb. lower for tine crossbred slipe. Otherwise the market is unchanged. Latest quotations compare with those previously cabled as follows: —

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd- report having received cable advice from their Bradford agent regarding the tops market as follows: —Merino tops are Jd. down, while tine crossbred tops are unchanged.
