Waipukurau.—Heavy rain and hail in the early hours of the morning followed by a bright sunny day with a very cold wind. Napier and Hastings.—Bright and sunny, with a moderate southerly wind and cold temperatures. Auckland.—Although heavy rain fell in the morning the weather improved in the afternoon and the barometer commenced to rise. There was only a light south-westerly wind, and there were several intervals of bright sunshine. The barometer rose steadily throughout the day and registered 29.75 inches at 5 p.m. Christchurch.—Fine with sunshine and passing clouds. A moderate to strong south-west wind was blowing. The maximum temperature was 52.5}deg. The barometer was rising and registered 29.79 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin.—A cold fresh south-west wind again prevailed. The sky was overcast and threatening. Temperatures were cold but the barometer continued to rise, the reading in the afternoon being 29.78 in.
