N.Z. INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE

Month’s Work Reviewed Congratulations were extended to Mr. H. Poole, Lower Hutt, for his outstanding work in connection with daffodils, and his success in winning the Peter Barr Cup, at the meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture held yesterday. The president, Mr. F. S. Pope, reported that the Dominion conference on bush preservation had been a success, the very full representation of interested societies illustrating the strength of public opinion behind the movement. A committee had been appointed to consider the draft of the proposed constitution, in accordance with a request from the Department of Internal Affairs. Acknowledgment of the institute’s remit asking for exemption from rates of all lands vested in local bodies lor recreation and sports purposes, he said, had been received from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry.
