LINK WITH THE EAST
New Shipping Service Dominion Special Service. Auckland, May 6. The opening of new avenues for New Zealand trade in the East will bo further advanced by the arrival iu Auckland on Monday of the Dutch Royal Packet Navigation Company’s motorship Maetsuycker. This will be the vessel’s maiden voyage and will inaugurate the company’s South Pacific service. Included in the cargo is 1000 tons of sugar which will be discharged at Chelsea. The master of the ship is Captain J. K. Kooper. The Maetsuycker is of about 4000 tons gross register. For the promotion of export trade from New Zealand to the East she will be fitted with refrigerated space. ‘'The new line will give the Dominion a .direct service to and from the East,”' said Mr. D. Lammers, Sydney representative for the line, in an interview to-night. Mr. Lammers, who is at present in Auckland awaiting the arrival of the Maetsuycker, added that the service would provide a valuable link between two great potential markets.
