Nazi Propaganda
Sir, —An amazing cable message has been published in the Press stating that Commander von Luckner, of the German Navy, intends to tour the world and will visit Australia and New Zealand, taking f 1 opportunity of spreading Nazi propaganda during the voyage.
If the message is true are we to understand that this man is to be allowed ashore in Australia and New Zealand to embark on Nazi propaganda? Can anyone imagine Hitler allowing anyone to promote political propaganda of any kind outside the home brand? Von Luckner is bold enough to “bluff his way anywhere,” but as one who resents the Nazi method of curtailing the liberty of the Press and public, and which is opposed to religious freedom, may I suggest that before the German officer is allowed to land in New Zealand he should be put upon his oath not to attempt to spread the gospel of Hitler.—l am, etc., COURTENAY. Wellington, April 21.
