The Paremata Redoubt.— One of the few remaining relics near Wellington of the troublesome days of the forties is Hie small area of laud just over the Parematu traffic bridge, known as the Paremata Redoubt. The remains of one of the brick and stone buildings (seen above) still show up in a crumpled heap, but to may. passers-by suggest no significance. As evidenced in the news columns of "The Dominion” during the last few weeks, considerable interest has been shown in the proposal to acquire the site to make the'redoubt, a national reserve.
