ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE

Wanganui Man Remanded ALLEGED QUARREL OVER OCCUPANCY OF HOUSE Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, April 20. Arising out of an altercation at Castlecliff last night regarding the occupancy of a house situated iu Kara ka Street Charles Henry Bourne, a single man. aged 26. appeared iu the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. ,T. 11. Salmon. S.M.. on a charge of attempted murder. On the application of Detective-Sergeant. J. K. Robertson he was remanded until Wednesday. April 28. It is stated that a quarrel . arose when Ernest de Tourett. former licensee of the Albion Hotel. Wanganui, and the owner of the house, went to Karaka Street with the intention of occupying the house, which he had had renovated. The occupants of the premises, Charles Bourne and his mother, had not then obtained another house, and objected to moving out. After a violent argument it is alleged that a double-barrelled shot-gun was produced and a shot fired, which narrowly missed de Tourett. Constable IV. Trask, who is .stationed at Castleeliff. arrived shortly afterward, and found a weapon from which the shot is alleged to have been fired. DetectiveSergeant Robertson and Sergeant Whiting also wont to the house. Later Bourne walked into the station and gave himself up.
