CORONATION LIGHTS

Fire Board to Co-operate With City Council A decision to confer with the Wellington City Council with a view to co-operating in decorations for the Coronation next month was made by the Wellington Fire Board last week. The secretary said he had been asked by decorators to ascertnin if the board intended to decorate the central fire station. A. plan was submitted to the board, but was regarded without favour. “Better give the money to the children’s health camp,” suggested Mr. S. 8. Dean. “It. is no good spending all that money on little bits of bunting.” The chairman, Mr. N. W. Nelson, said the city council was going to do something in the way of red, white, and blue lights in the streets. He suggested that the board might communicate with the city council and co-operate with the illuminations. Mr. M. F. Duckie said he thought something should be done, as the fire station occupied a prominent site at the junction of three streets, and was visible right down Jervois Quay. The suggestion of the chairman was adopted.
