Ere Morning
When the woods lie all asleep, Ere morning rises. Pan comes down beside the pools,
Lightly, lightly by the pools To charm the night away. Along the river’s leafy lips, Still and softly going, Pan comes down to play a tune. Shadowy and dim tune. To call the stars away. Like a shadow in the trees he Slips upon his way, Pausing by the dreamy pools, Silver-black and calm the pools, To sing his heart away. —Original by Mary Greig, (10). Wanganui.
