“And So To Bed” Probably not since the last Ttiespia.. production — “Call It a Day,” which was presented late last year—has so much interest among theatre goers been aroused as that now caused by the society's forthcoming production of "And So to Bed,” the famous period comedy by J. B. Fagan, introducing the immortal diarist, Samuel I’epys, auy mauy characters already well-known to readers of his diary. With such shows as "Call It a Day," “Lovers’ Leap,” "Laburnum Grove,” and “Hobson’s Choice,” the Thespians have earned a reputation as high as that of any professional company in Wellington. "Aud So to Bed” lias been well received wherever it has been played, the witty comedy lines, excellent character-drawing, and beautiful costumes making it an ideal entertainment. The strong cast engaged in the production includes A. D. Priestley (late seen in the Thespian production of "Laburnum Grove") as Samuel Pepys; Warren Toogood (who wiil bo remembered for his performance as The Great La Salle in "Afterwards") as Charles 11, Zenocrate Mount joy (who played opposite Mr. Toogood in “Afterwards”) as Mrs. Pepys, Sinclair Ronald (seen iu “Lovers' Leap” last year) as Mrs. Knight, and Dorothy Tansiey, Mary Marsden, R. J. Larkin. Beth Maplesden, Lorna Baxter. Jean. Combs, Erie Evan-Young, George Aldridge, Evan Harrowell, Mavis Manthel, B. C. Forgie, G. S. Lloyd. Gibson Philp, aud Peter Maplesden. D. G. Edwards is producing the play, with Victor S. Lolyd ns advisory director; the stage manager is Myles F. E. Wright, the assistant stagemanager Evan Harrowell; the wardrobe mistress Susie Painter; the prompter Iris Austin; and the property mistresses Isabel Burton and Peggy Lucas. The box plan opens to the public at Begg's on -Monday morning.
