TROTSKY'S DEFENCE «. Commission’s Hearing In Mexico City By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received April 16, 10.55 p.m.) Mexico City, April 16. Leon Trotsky has finished the presentation of his defence before the commission inquiring into Russian charges against him. He asserted that 31. Stalin’s bureaucracy was responsible for the rise of Herr Hitler. M. Stalin was forming a common front with Herr Hitler against the German Social Democrats. Cross-examination will occupy the next stage of the hearingf. A Commission of the Americans, headed by the noted philosopher. Dr. John Dewey, has opened an inquiry ■as to whether M. Leon Trotsky plotted for the overthrow of the Soviet, or aided Germany and Japan. Counsel, questioning Trotsky, elicited a re-afiirmation of his complete innocence. He explained his expulsion from Russia because he fought “against any ruling class with new privileges and uncontrolled power.”
