Infantile Paralysis
Sir, —The following simple suggestions for use by those desiring to travel at the present time, and who may dread carrying infection into a household, will be found to be efficacious:— (1) Upon arrival at destination a hot bath should be taken, with a little strong disinfectant added—hair to be washed at the same time. (2) Throats should be well gargled with salt and water—l teaspoon salt dissolved in 1 pint boiled water—or else weak Condy’s crystal, solution. (3) All clothing worn when travelling should be left in the bathroom, while a little sulphur is being burned—this to be done by sprinkling sulphur upon a few live_ embers placed upon a fire shovel. ■No persons desiring to retain their health at this present time should visit any public swimming bath; this is most important. If the Health Department would only post up notices giving simple advice such as the above on every station platform, and in the trains themselves, prohibit the use of all swimming baths, and again close all schools throughout this Dominion, a tremendous amount of suffering, as ■well aS a mint of money, would be saved this generation.—l am, etc.. DAISY M. WEBBER. Wanganui, April 15.
