CITY ENGINEER TO VISIT AUSTRALIA
Study of Latest Methods The Wellington city engineer, Mr. K. E. Luke, is to visit Australia to study traffic problems, building operations and street works. Speaking at a meeting of the city council last night, Cr. W. Appleton, chairman of the works committee, said that in view of the latest developments in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, it was most desirable that Mr. Luke should gain some knowledge of those undertakings at first-hand. The committee thought that if he spent a few weeks in Australia it would be money well spent. He would not be leaving Wellington until the estimates had been drawn up and certain engineering matters which he had in hand had been completed.
