GOODS STREWN ON PATH Observing a man leaving Miller's drapery shop. Cuba Street. Wellington, with a" suspicious-looking bulge in his coat shortly after 6 o’clock last evening, Mr. A. Gamble, an assistant in the

shop, gave chase. A struggle ensued, in which the m.an was aided by a number of companions, while a large crowd of Friday-night shoppers collected. In the melee the man’s coat became unfastened and a quantity of clothing, including shirts and singlets, fell on to the footpath, where it was seized by another employee and recognised as part of the shop property. Meanwhile a bystander had called a constable, who took the man in charge. He will appear in the Magistrate’s Cour ttliis morning.
