To-days Recipe BANANA AND CURRANT PIE

Peel and slice four bananas aud put them in a saucepan with half a gill of water, four ounces of sugar, and three ounces of butter. Cook for ten minutes, then rub the fruit through a hair sieve. Now stir in the yolks of two or three eggs and four ounces of currants, and pour into a greased piedish which has been lined with pastry. Bake for 15 minutes in a moderately hot oven, then allow to cool a little. Whisk the whites of the eggs to a stiff froth, add a tablespoonful of castor sugar, beat again, aud pile this on top of the pie. Decorate with halved glace cherries, and return to the oven for a few minutes to brown.
