TRADE AGREEMENT

Austria and Germany

Agreements regulating trade exchange between Austria ami Germany were signed in Vienna last month. The mutual exchange of goods is to be considerably augmented, compared with 1936. Austria is to export increased contingents of agricultural produce to Germany, notably fat stock, cattle generally. butter, choose, and milk: of timber (railway sleepers, lumber and pulpwood); iron and steel goods. The agreements also provide for improved conditions in the mutual film transactions, and payments for copyright and authors’ foes. More funds are being freed on both sides for tourist traffic.

Germany will send increased consignments of coal and coke, as well as of numerous industrial products to Austria.

Tim agreements include arrangements for "compensation'' transactions, and n readjustment of certain customs regulations.
