London, March 28.

A deputation from Messrs. William Beardmore’s works nt Parkhead to tiie Independent Labour Party conference announced that it had stopped tiie work of one of tiie greatest armament linns in Britain. Though the strike was without union backing, it involved employers and the whole of the workingclass movement. The men would not brook political interference. Mr. J. Maxton. on behalf of tiie Independent Labour Party, promised the strikers help from the Parliamentary party.
