SEA SCOUT REGATTA
Annual Contests Held The annual regatta open to all New Zealand Sea Scout troops was held on AVellington harbour on Saturday, when conditions were ideal for rowing, -there being no wind and a very calm sea. A rain shower fell about midday, but the weather cleared in the afternoon and conditions became very warm. The entries this year were small. AVellington sea scouts were represented by erews from teh Collingwood and Port Nicholson troops, and there were visiting crews from -the Castlecliff (AVanganui) and the Iron Duke (Nelson) troops. Although in each r.-#? there were only two boats, the racing was interesting. Because of the absence of a launch to tow the boats out to the starting point at Point Jerningham, the lads had to row out and then race back, and this resulted in the times of starting being delayed. Trophies competed for were the Leslie Shore Memorial Cup for the crew with the best style of rowing (which was won by Iron Duke with 48 points out of 50, Castleeliff being next with 39). the Aorangi Cup for juniors, the AVashbourn Cup for seniors, and the Nelson Cup for sea rovers. Results were as follows: — Nelson Cup, for sea rovers (1 mile) : Port (Nicholson 1. Iron Duke 2. Won by seven lengths; time, 10.30. Aorangi Cup, for juniors, three-quar-ters of a mile. This race, which consists of both rowing and sailing, will commence at the Clyde Quay wharf at 11 a.m. The reunion dinner and conference of sea scouts was held on Good Friday, when many matters relating to sea-scout-ing were discussed. It was decided that Dominion headquarters be approached witli a view to appointing a commissioner for sea scouting, ami that next year niore sea scout troops be invited to participate in the annual regatta. The chairman of the committee in charge of the regatta was Mr. AV. M. McLeod, and the secretary. Mr. H. E. Goodwin.
