Auckland
B.v Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 28.
The Easter holidays to date have been completely ruined b.v heavy rain and a strong gale. Practically all athletic fixtures were abandoned on Saturday and for the first time for years the Auckland Racing (.’lull’s opening day at Ellerslie had to be postixmed. 'l’lie rain eased this afternoon, but conditions were still threatening.
Many motorists who left fur holiday resorts Jiave returned home, while hundreds of yachts and launches which would have been making cruises remain at their moorings. Following an unfavourable Christmas many shopkeepers at seaside resorts who rely almost entirely on holiday business are in financial difficulties.
