LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Provincial Meeting Presidents and secretaries attended the first provincial meeting of the League of Mothers for the year, which was held in the Y.AV.C.A., Wellington, recently. Mrs. H. AV. Kersley occupied the chair and welcomed Mrs. Cocker, a lighthouse branch member who is visiting AVellington, and Mrs. Daley, the new secretary of the Palmerston North branch. Much regret was expressed at Mrs. Jenson’s resignation from the position of organising secretary, and a minute of very sincere appreciation was passed thanking her for all she had done for the league. Mrs. AVall was appointed correspondent for AVanganui in place of Mrs. Jenson. Calendars were a. much-discussed topic, and branches were congratulated in disposing of last year’s calendars in spite of their late arrival. Reports wore given by representatives from the National Council of AVomen and Maori and scattered branches. The confirmation of accounts led to a very helpful ■discussion of finance. In the afternoon Mrs. H. AV. Kersley entertained all members of the provincial committee and league treasurers at a delightful party held at her home in AVestern Hutt Road. Afternoon tea was served, followed by songs by Mrs. Philpotts and Mrs. Potter, both members of the Lower Hutt branch. Mrs. Kersley was assisted by her daughter, Miss Doreen Kersley, and Miss Finlay, her niece, together with several members of the Lower Hutt branch.
