BRITAIN’S TALLEST MANNEQUIN
“Is It Gold Up There?”
Britain's tallest mannequin, Miss Joanne Safelie, has gone into the show business, writes Alan Johnston in the “Sunday Chronicle.”
She is appearing in a cabaret, at one of London’s most fashionable night clubs.
1 met her—six feet three inches of grace and beauty. “Tell me, Miss Safelle,” I asked, “how does it feel to be so tall?” “Grand,” she replied, “but I cannot travel with the slightest degree of comfort in buses or tubes. ‘‘Small boys often stop me in the street and ask me, ‘ls it cold up there?’ Believe me, you have to possess a strong sense of humour.” Despite her amazing height, Miss Safelle has a waist of 22in„ weighs only 9st., and takes' 41 size in shoes.
