Chinese Art Collection.—Some of the treasures of Chinese Art, included in the collection which is opened to the public at the Dominion Museum, Wellington, to-day. The collection, which received generous support from be trustees of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is being exhibited in New Zealand under arrangements made by the trustees of the National Art Gallery and Dominion Museum. The items shown here are: (1) A 15-inch high jar of the Sung Dynasty (Circa A.D. 1050), from the Rutherston Collection; (2) One of a Pair of Ming porcelain lidded jars, 13½ inches high, decorated in enamel colours. They are of the Wan Li Period, and have been lent by Lord Bledisloe; (3) A Chien Lung (A.D. 1736-1793) dark green jade casket and lid, lent by Her Majesty Queen Marry; (4) The Red Bird of the Southern Quadrant of the Heavens. A pottery piece of the time of the Wei Dynasty (A.D. 300), lent by the Auckland Museum; (5) A circular bulb earthenware, covered with purplish glaze, lent by George Eumorfopoulos, Esq., London.
