REMAND IN ASSAULT CASE

Other Charges Pending Dominion Special Service. Napier, March 23. Samuel Smith, who appeared in the Magistrate's Court at Napier before Mr. J. Miller, S.M.. this morning on a charge of assaulting Robert Spiers so as to cause him actual bodily harm, was remanded on the application of Detective-Sergeant H. Nuttall for one week. The detective-ser-geant also stated that a further remand would probably be required. “Further charges of a similar nature will shortly be brought against accused, he said. “The assaulted man is at present in hospital with extensive injuries to his head and there are two others who as a result of being assaulted by accused are also injured.”
