The Hon. AV. E. Barnard, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is to leave on Saturday night for the South Island, where he is to .address meetings on the immigration question. He is to address two meetings at Christchurch on Monday, and these will be followed by addresses at Dunedin and Invercargill. Mr. Barnard and Mrs. Barnard have accepted an invitation from the Dunedin City Council to be the guests of the city during coronation week, and Mr. Barnard is to give tlie coronation day address, his subject being. “The Significance of the Coronation to the Empire.” Mr. A, Morrie Taylor, Tiinaru, is ou a visit to Wellington. Mr. R. Hudson, Dunedin, is visiting Wellington.

Mr. F. C: Wilkinson has been appointed a member of the Hawke’s Bay Licensing Committee. Mr. M. Silverstone, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday on a business visit.

Coster, manager of the Papeete branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, Ltd., who is on holiday in New Zealand, left 'Wellington yesterday for the north by the Limited. Mr. Joseph Levy, late manager of the Carlton and Usher's hotels, Sydney, and the Grand Hotel, Auckland, has been appointed manager of the Wentworth Hotel, Sydney. Messrs. 11. E. Avery and D. A. F. Crombie (Wellington) have been granted pulilie-accountancy status (A.P.A. N.Z.) in the New Zealand Society of Accountants.

Mr. R. M. Stewart, secretary of the Film Exchanges Association of New Zealand (Inc.), who is to make a business trip to Sydney, left for Auckland last night to join the Mariposa. Dr. R. Noble Adams, whd has held the part-time position of anesthetist with the Marlborough Hospital Board, has resigned owing to the pressure of other duties. Mr. W. K? McAlpine, chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, and Mr. C. 11. Clibborn, secretary, visited Wellington yesterday to attend a meeting of the executive of the Harbour Boards’ Employers’ Association, and left last night for the south. Mr. R. R. Binning, of the sub-editor-ial staff of “The Dominion,” was met last night by his colleagues of the literary department, who congratulated him upon his appointment to the commercial staff of the paper. Mr. Binning, who has had some 21 years’ service with "The Dominion,” was presented a set of cut glass tumblers and water jug. Messrs. L. R. Bowen. F. G. Bowling, P. 'J'. Chandler, S. Greenberg, A. J. Marchant, I. 11. McCnul, G. Mclntosh, D. A. Parke, L. P. Turner, L. Withy, I’. G. Pasley and J. M. A. Bryce (all of Wellington), and Mr. W. R. Corser (Petone) have been admitted t.o membership of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, witli the status of A.R.A.N.Z.

Mr. C. A. Norris, G.8.E., general manager of the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia, Ltd., who arrived at Auckland on Monday by the Awatea on a short business visit to New Zealand, lias now reached Wellington. .Mr. Norris is n member of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria and a representative of the Commonwealth Government on the Victorian State Employment Council.
