EIGHT-OARED ROWING

Interprovincial Contest at Wellington SEVEN CREWS IO COMPETE Seven entries have been received for the inter-provincial eight-oared rowing contest, to be held at Wellington on the Koro Koro course on Easter Saturday, Mareh 27. Last year, when the race was held at Wanganui, there were seven starters, but Marlborough has decided not to forward an entry this year. An entry from Southland, however, has brought the total to the same as last year. Otago, who won narrowly from Wellington last year, have entered a strong crew. Stroke, four, three and bow were in the 1936 crew, seven (J. D. Solomon) has been in every eight since the race was inaugurated, six (G. P. Clark) stroked the winning crew at Wellington in 1933, and five (C. E. C. Johnson) represented Southland at AVellington in 1934.
