CHURCH REOPENED

Island Bay Methodist After having been closed during the past month, during which period extensive renovations aud alterations to the church and Sunday school hall were carried out, the Island Bay Methodist Church has been reopened for public worship. The ceiling of the eliureh has been painted ivory white, the walls a soft cream, the architraves ami dado in rimu stain, and the new rostrum, choir gallery, aud communion rail in heart rimu. The reopening service was conducted by the minister of the church, the Rev. F. (). Prosser, the Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A., taking the prayers and sermon. Mrs. Prosser sang the dedication solo, and Mr. C. I>. Lennie unveiled a tablet to the memory of the late Mrs. E. J. Brown, whose generosity and faithful service contributed largely to the progress of the church. The choir sang the anthems, "Holy Art. Thou," a setting of Handel’s celebrated "Largo,” and the “Te Deum.”
