ST. GEORGE’S DAY CELEBRATIONS

St. George's Day, April 23. is the feast dav of St. George, the patron saint of England. Last year, on the initiative of the Yorkshire Society of New Zealand. English county societies in Wellington combined in a celebration to do honour to England ns the Motherland. Arrangements are in hand for the second celebration on April 23 next. This being coronation year, some interesting developments may be announced in the near future. Mi\ Karl Atkinson, president of the Yorkshire Society, is chairman of the combined committee of English county societies organising the gathering. There may be ebuntv societies not already associated with the committee, and there are probably a number of college, university ~r public school old boys’ associations and tin- like who would be glad to participate in the celebration.
