Maunganui Breaks Record (From “The Dominion," March 13, 11)12.) Tlie Union Company’s new steamer Maunganui, arrived at Sydney last night after u record trip of three days and two and a half hours from Wellington. Tlie weather conditions were adverse: otherwise the steamer would have done better. [The Awatea Ims made the trip from Sydney to Wellington in two days, nine mid a quarter hours.] ♦ ♦ ♦ Mr. Robert Parker, who has been so prominently associated with the development of music in Wellington for many years past, lias resigned his position as conductor of tlie Wellington Musical Union. » » » Al a public meeting yesterday, a r<sohJtion was adopted asking the Napier Borough Council not to accept a tender for the proiwsed electric tramways until tlie whole question was further considered by tlie ratepayers, some of whom favour motor-buses. [Napier had tramways until the earthquake in 1931.]
